IL HB2575

Prohibits the Legislative Ethics Commission from requiring the Legislative Inspector General to seek advance approval before commencing investigations or issuing subpoenas; voids any existing rules requiring such approval.

Extends the statute of limitations for initiating investigations from one year to two years after the most recent act of an alleged violation, or longer if the violation would constitute a civil offense or crime.

Requires the Legislative Inspector General to notify complainants of complaint receipt within 15 business days.

Mandates release of all founded reports by the Legislative Inspector General to the public unless the Commission votes 6-0 to deny release, in which case the Commission must publicly provide reasoning for the denial.

Provides that respondents who refuse to cooperate in an investigation forfeit the right to offer redactions or provide responses to investigation reports.
