IL HB2642

Amends the Illinois Wage Payment and Collection Act to require employers to pay nurses for half a day's work at their regular rate (minimum wage or higher) when they report as scheduled but are not given work, or are directed not to report.

Applies to all nurses including those providing telemedicine or using technology to deliver remote nursing care.

Exempts employers from the reporting pay requirement when operations cannot commence due to threats to employees/property, failure of public utilities (electricity, water, gas, sewer), or Acts of God or causes beyond the employer's control.

Does not apply to nurses on paid standby status who are called to work at times other than their scheduled reporting time.

Requires employers to provide nurses with previously approved and distributed work schedules; takes effect January 1, 2022.
