Adds Section 356z.43 to the Illinois Insurance Code requiring group health insurance policies amended, delivered, issued, or renewed on or after January 1, 2022 to cover follow-up colonoscopies determined medically necessary by a physician, advanced practice registered nurse, or physician assistant.

Prohibits insurers from imposing deductibles, coinsurance, copayments, or other cost-sharing on colonoscopy coverage, except where such coverage would disqualify a high-deductible health plan from health savings account eligibility under Internal Revenue Code Section 223.

Extends colonoscopy coverage requirements to self-insured counties and municipalities by amending the Counties Code and Illinois Municipal Code to include Section 356z.43 among mandated health benefits.

Makes colonoscopy coverage requirements applicable to Health Maintenance Organizations by adding Section 356z.43 to the list of Insurance Code provisions HMOs must follow under the Health Maintenance Organization Act.

Takes effect January 1, 2022.
