IL HB2809

Amends the Public Officer Prohibited Activities Act to extend the prohibition on holding multiple compensated positions to mayors and village presidents (previously applied only to aldermen and board members).

Prohibits mayors, aldermen, village presidents, and board members from accepting, being appointed to, or holding any compensated office or position appointed by the mayor or village president during their elected term, unless they obtain a leave of absence or resign from their current office.

Allows exceptions for volunteer firefighter service and compensation, and permits aldermen to serve as commissioners of the Beardstown Regional Flood Prevention District board.

Permits elected municipal officials to hold elected office in other units of local government as long as there is no contractual relationship between the municipalities.

Declares that any appointment violating these restrictions is void.
