IL HB2812

Allows parents or guardians of twins or higher order multiples to request placement in the same or separate classrooms if children are in grades kindergarten through 5, same grade level, and attending the same school.

Requires parents to make classroom placement requests at school registration for the upcoming school year or upon transfer enrollment.

Permits school principals to request a meeting with parents to recommend classroom placement; if they disagree, the principal must request a school board hearing to determine final placement.

If the principal does not request a meeting, the school must provide the classroom placement requested by the parent or guardian.

Allows principals to request a board hearing during the school year to change placement if it is disruptive to the classroom environment or not academically, behaviorally, or mentally beneficial to the children; requires 10 days' written notice to parents before the hearing.
