HB2925 Summary

• Amends Illinois Vehicle Code Section 11-1426.1 to increase the speed limit threshold for operating non-highway vehicles on roadways from 35 miles per hour to 55 miles per hour.

• Allows operation of non-highway vehicles (ATVs, golf carts, off-highway motorcycles, recreational off-highway vehicles) on roadways with speed limits of 55 mph or less, provided the roadway is not a State highway, federal highway, or within an incorporated area.

• Non-highway vehicles remain prohibited from crossing tollroads, interstate highways, or controlled access highways directly.

• Operators must possess a valid driver's license and vehicles must meet equipment requirements including brakes, steering, mirrors, lights, reflectors, and slow-moving vehicle emblems.

• Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
