IL HB3068

Amends the Illinois Dental Practice Act by modifying the definition of "public health setting" under 225 ILCS 25/4.

Adds "a prison" to the list of facilities that qualify as public health settings for purposes of dental practice regulations.

Public health settings previously included federally qualified health centers, federal/state/local public health facilities, Head Start, WIC facilities, and school-based health centers; prisons are now included in this category.

This change allows public health dental hygienists to provide services in prisons under public health supervision without requiring a dentist to first examine patients or be present during treatment, subject to eligibility requirements (Medicaid-eligible or uninsured individuals at or below 200% of federal poverty level).
