HB3135 Summary

• Adds security employees of the Department of Human Services subject to Tier 2 provisions to those eligible for the alternative retirement annuity under the State Employee Article of the Illinois Pension Code.

• Allows eligible Department of Human Services security employees to convert up to 9 years of service credit earned before January 1, 2022 into eligible creditable service by filing a written election with the Board and making a specified payment.

• Excludes benefit increases resulting from this amendatory act from the definition of "new benefit increase" for purposes of the sunset and funding requirements in Section 14-152.1.

• Effective January 1, 2022.
