IL HB3155

Amends the Medical Patient Rights Act to add Section 8 regarding equity in health care during public health emergencies declared by the Governor under the Illinois Emergency Management Agency Act.

Requires health professionals to permit people eligible for critical or intensive care services to remain eligible regardless of age or disability during public health emergencies.

Mandates that health professionals provide individual patient assessments based on the best available objective medical evidence and prohibits denying care based on stereotypes, quality of life assessments, or disability-related factors.

Prohibits health professionals from making decisions on health care resources based on age, ancestry, color, creed, disability, ethnicity, gender identity, health insurance status, race, sex, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, or other protected characteristics unless relevant to the patient's medical diagnosis and treatment.

Takes effect upon becoming law.
