HB3199 Summary

• Beginning July 1, 2021, all FDA-approved prescription medications recognized as effective for conditions in the DSM-5 (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) must be covered under both fee-for-service and managed care Medicaid programs for eligible persons.

• Covered mental health medications cannot be subject to utilization controls, prior authorization requirements, or lifetime restriction limits.

• This requirement applies to medical assistance recipients who are otherwise eligible for Medicaid under Illinois law.
