IL HB3489

Amends the Unemployment Insurance Act Section 901 to suspend fraud-related ineligibility penalties during gubernatorial disaster proclamations resulting from public health emergencies or epidemics.

Suspends the requirement that individuals found committing unemployment insurance fraud be ineligible for 6 weeks (first offense) or 2 additional weeks (subsequent offenses) for those residing in affected counties.

Applies only to individuals in counties covered by the disaster proclamation who are otherwise entitled to receive unemployment insurance benefits.

Eliminates the fraud ineligibility penalties while the disaster proclamation remains in effect, though individuals must still repay fraudulently obtained benefits.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
