Prohibits General Assembly members, their spouses, and immediate family members living with them from engaging in paid lobbying activities at the state or local government level

Bans covered individuals from receiving compensation to act as a registered lobbyist or to communicate with executive, legislative, or local government officials to influence government action

Violations constitute a Class A misdemeanor, and General Assembly members who violate the prohibition must forfeit their office

Expands current law, which only prohibited legislators themselves from paid lobbying, to include spouses and immediate family members residing with the legislator

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law
