Requires all firearms manufactured on or after January 1, 2022 to be "microstamp-ready," meaning they must produce a unique alphanumeric or geometric code on at least 2 locations on each expended cartridge case identifying the firearm's make, model, and serial number

Makes it a Class 3 felony to knowingly sell, manufacture, purchase, possess, or carry a non-microstamp-ready firearm manufactured after January 1, 2022, or to possess such a firearm knowing its microstamping mechanism was unlawfully removed

Makes it a Class 2 felony to knowingly or intentionally change, alter, remove, or obliterate a firearm's microstamping mechanism

Allows repairs, part replacements, or other changes to firearms that may affect the microstamping code, as long as the serial number remains intact
