IL HB3788

Creates the Ballistics Information Act requiring law enforcement agencies to submit ballistics information from spent shell casings recovered at crime scenes to the National Integrated Ballistics Identification Network within 24 hours.

Requires law enforcement agencies to test fire seized or recovered semiautomatic firearms within 24 hours and submit results to the National Integrated Ballistics Identification Network when firearms are unlawfully possessed, used unlawfully, recovered from crime scenes, reasonably believed associated with crime, or acquired as abandoned or discarded firearms.

Applies to all State agencies with law enforcement officers, county sheriff's offices, and municipal, special district, college, or local government police departments.
