IL HB3795

Amends the Criminal Code of 2012 to expand the definition of criminal damage to government supported property to explicitly include any property under the jurisdiction of the Department of Transportation.

Defines "government supported" property as any property supported in whole or in part with State funds, local government or school district funds, or federal funds administered through State agencies.

Establishes felony classifications based on damage amount: Class 4 felony for $500 or less; Class 3 felony for $500-$10,000; Class 2 felony for $10,000-$100,000; and Class 1 felony for damage exceeding $100,000.

Requires courts to impose a fine equal to the value of damages when property damage exceeds $10,000.

Covers four criminal acts: damaging government property without consent, damaging property by fire or explosive, starting fires on government property without consent, and depositing offensive-smelling compounds on government property to interfere with its use.
