IL HB3796

Amends the First Responders Suicide Prevention Act to add post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) to the scope of personal and professional problems that peer support advisors may address.

Requires peer support advisors to receive training in identifying symptoms of PTSD and responding appropriately to individuals exhibiting those symptoms.

Defines "post-traumatic stress disorder" by reference to the definition established by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board under Section 10.13 of the Illinois Police Training Act.

Applies to emergency services providers, law enforcement agencies, and collective bargaining organizations that establish peer support counseling programs.
