Parents or guardians of children with disabilities can enroll their child in a previously attended school district, provided that district is located wholly or partly within the same county where the child currently resides.

The child's current school district must grant a permit allowing the child to enroll in the alternative school district within the same county.

Children enrolled under this provision are counted as pupils of the enrolling school district for special education reimbursement and evidence-based funding purposes under Section 18-8.15.

Parents or guardians are responsible for all transportation costs, and neither the current nor enrolling school district is eligible for transportation reimbursement under Sections 14-13.01 or 29-5.

The Act takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
