Vacancy in State Senator or Representative position shall be filled within 30 days by appointment of the legislative or representative committee of that district.

Committee must convene within 3 days of vacancy to create uniform application for candidates and set appointment date with at least 7 days public notice.

All candidates must be granted opportunity to present credentials publicly and answer questions from committeepersons on the day of appointment.

Applications received within 2 days before appointment must be made publicly available on the committeeperson's website.

Former officeholder who is also a committeeperson is prohibited from voting in successor appointment; other committeepersons elect a proxy to cast that ineligible committeeperson's votes.
