• Mandates the Department submit a formal request to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for federal certification and have the program operational within 6 months of receiving certification.

• Establishes comprehensive audit requirements to ensure cost-effectiveness, supplier quality, product safety, appropriate pricing, and health plan compliance with the importation program requirements.

• Requires the Department to report to the General Assembly within 6 months on the program design and every 6 months thereafter on implementation, including covered drugs, participating entities, prescriptions dispensed, consumer savings, and audit findings.
