IL HB3908

Amends the Illinois Election Code Section 9-8.10 to prohibit political committees from making expenditures for payments pursuant to settlement agreements entered by public officials or candidates related to allegations of sexual harassment or unlawful discrimination under State or federal law.

Adds this prohibition as item (12) to the existing list of prohibited expenditures by political committees.

Enforces the prohibition through State Board authority to investigate violations upon receipt of verified complaints and levy fines up to $500 per violation or the amount of the expenditure plus $500 for larger violations.

Maintains existing provisions allowing political committees to defray customary and reasonable expenses related to governmental and public service functions.
