HB3912 Summary

• Allows county boards in counties with fewer than 3,000,000 inhabitants to adopt resolutions providing that persons granted homestead exemptions for veterans with disabilities or senior citizens need not reapply annually beginning in tax year 2021.

• County board resolutions may establish criteria to verify that exemption qualification requirements continue to be met by applicants in subsequent tax years.

• Amends Section 15-169 (veterans with disabilities homestead exemption) and Section 15-172 (senior citizens assessment freeze homestead exemption) of the Property Tax Code.

• Effective immediately upon becoming law.
