Law enforcement agencies that offer tuition reimbursement programs for officers must allow permanent officers to request retroactive reimbursement for up to two years of college or police academy tuition incurred before being hired

Retroactive tuition reimbursement eligibility is limited to officers who qualified for financial aid while attending college or police academy

Amends the State Mandates Act to exempt local governments from state reimbursement for costs associated with implementing these requirements

Existing law enforcement and county corrections officers employed at the time of the bill's enactment are exempt from the new education requirements
