IL HB3979

Amends the Legal Business Solicitation Act to make it unlawful (Class B misdemeanor) for attorneys or their agents to make false or deceptive statements about settlement funds or pending legal matters to induce people into employment contracts.

Prohibits specific deceptive claims including that limited money is available, that it is the last chance to seek compensation, or other similar misleading statements.

Requires attorneys with contracts obtained before the effective date to disclose within 6 months if they previously made false statements about settlement funds or legal matters to obtain the client's employment.

Mandates attorneys obtain written client consent to continue representation in pending legal matters if the employment contract was originally obtained through prohibited false or deceptive statements.
