IL HB4073

Amends the Public Library District Act of 1991 to address vacant trustee positions that occurred before May 27, 2022 and remain unfilled as of the effective date of this amendment.

Requires the State Librarian to fill any such pre-May 27, 2022 vacancies within 60 days after this act becomes effective.

Modifies Section 30-40 to clarify that vacancies in board officer positions shall be filled under the procedures outlined in Section 30-25 rather than by simple board action.

Maintains existing 90-day deadline for trustees to fill vacancies, with State Librarian authority to fill vacancies if trustees fail to do so within that timeframe.

Takes effect upon becoming law.
