IL HB4203

Prohibits public bodies (including state agencies, universities, school districts, and municipal corporations) from displaying racially derogatory language or racial slurs in buildings, on property, or at public meetings at any time.

Defines "racial slur" as any word or phrase used as an insulting, contemptuous, or otherwise negative term for a racial or ethnic group.

Exempts uses of racially derogatory language in literature, for educational purposes, or as an essential component of work performed by the public body from the prohibition.

Applies to all public bodies as defined in the Act, including committees and subcommittees of state agencies, school districts, and other municipal entities.
