HB4241 Summary

• Removes the requirement that educator licensure candidates pass a teacher performance assessment, effective July 1, 2022.

• Retains the requirement that all candidates pass a content area knowledge test before receiving an educator license or serving as a teacher of record.

• Eliminates the teacher performance assessment requirement from the Alternative Educator Licensure Program for Teachers, removing the requirement to pass this assessment by the end of the first semester of the second year of residency.

• Maintains requirements for paraprofessional competency testing and bilingual education program language proficiency testing.

• Updates statutory language throughout to reference only the content area test as the primary examination requirement for educator licensure.
