IL HB4348

Amends the Law Enforcement Camera Grant Act to revise the definition of "law enforcement officer" to include officers employed by any unit of local government, rather than limiting it to specific county, municipality, and township employees.

Replaces specific governmental entities (county, municipality, township) with the broader term "unit of local government" as defined in Section 1 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution.

Adds a new definition of "unit of local government" that references the Illinois Constitution to encompass all qualifying local government entities.

Maintains existing definitions for in-car video cameras, officer-worn body cameras, recording equipment, and recording mediums including digital and cloud storage options.

Takes effect upon becoming law.
