Adds Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) employees to the list of protected persons under Illinois aggravated battery law, including direct employees and contracted workers, case workers, and investigators.

Creates a new offense (subdivision a(3.1)) making it aggravated battery when a person age 21 or older knowingly causes great bodily harm or permanent disability or disfigurement to a DCFS employee performing official duties, being battered to prevent such duties, or battered in retaliation for performing duties.

Establishes the offense as a Class 2 felony under the general sentencing scheme, or Class 1 felony if the battery causes great bodily harm or permanent disability or disfigurement.

Also adds DCFS employees to subdivision (d)(4.1) of the statute, establishing similar protections based on victim status with the same age requirement and penalties.

Makes the Act effective immediately upon becoming law and designates it as the Knight-Silas Legacy Act.
