IL HB4482

Creates the Water Heater Safety Valve Act requiring manufacturers and suppliers of water heaters for residential use in Illinois to install temperature mixing valves or safety valves that limit water temperature to 120 degrees Fahrenheit at all faucets and water sources.

Amends the Illinois Plumbing License Law to require plumbers installing water heaters or tanks in Illinois residences or residential facilities to supply or attach the same temperature-limiting safety valves.

Establishes the Department of Public Health as the enforcing agency for the Act.

Imposes civil penalties of $500 for the first violation and $1,000 for each subsequent violation, enforceable by the State's Attorney or Attorney General in circuit court.
