• Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board must adopt uniform waiver rules within 60 days for officers previously employed and qualified under federal law or another state's laws.

• Officers seeking waivers from out-of-state or federal experience must successfully complete Board-approved training on Illinois law relevant to law enforcement and county corrections duties, plus firearms training before waiver approval.

• Allows waiver consideration for extensive prior law enforcement or county corrections experience obtained outside Illinois state and local government agencies, expanding eligibility beyond previous restrictions.

• Mandated training must be provided at no cost to employees, and employees must be paid for all time spent attending required training sessions.

• Officers who fail to complete training within 6 months must forfeit their position unless the employing agency obtains a Board waiver, which cannot extend more than 90 days beyond the initial 6-month period.
