• Mandates at least 5 hours of cultural competency training for most health care professionals at their first license or registration renewal after the effective date, with subsequent renewals requiring 10% of total continuing education hours (capped at 5 hours per renewal period).

• Requires physicians and medical practitioners under the Medical Practice Act of 1987 to complete 10 hours of cultural competency training at their first renewal after the effective date, then at least 5 hours per renewal period thereafter.

• Allows cultural competency training hours to count toward minimum continuing education requirements and permits training completed for other state licensure, professional accreditation, or institutional requirements to satisfy this mandate.

• Takes effect January 1, 2023.
