IL HB4855

Allows election authorities to reduce the number of judges of election in each precinct from 5 to 3 for any election, except in counties with a population of at least 3,000,000 or where election judges are selected by election commissioners.

Modifies selection requirements for boards of election commissioners in cities, villages, and incorporated towns to require selection of no less than 3 persons (rather than 5) as judges of election for each precinct.

When only 3 judges serve in a precinct, limits representation to no more than 2 persons from the same political party, with party entitlement determined using existing methods for 5-judge precincts.

Maintains existing qualifications and appointment procedures for election judges, including requirements for political party balance and residency in or near the precinct.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
