IL HB4856

Amends the Election Code to establish vote centers where all voters in a jurisdiction can vote on election day regardless of their registered precinct.

Requires election authorities to identify vote center locations, hours of operation, and health and safety requirements by the 40th day preceding any election and certify these to the State Board of Elections.

Changes the deadline requirement from applying only to the 2022 general primary and general elections to applying to all future elections.

Removes the January 1, 2023 repeal date, making vote center provisions permanent rather than temporary.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
