State Board of Elections must adopt rules by January 1, 2024 authorizing election authorities and local election officials to establish procedures for collecting digital voter signatures on nominating, candidate, and referendum petitions.

Election authorities and local election officials may provide or supply electronic devices for collecting digital voter signatures on petitions.

Electronic devices used to collect digital signatures may allow individuals to access and use the online voter registration system established under Section 171A-16.5.

Amends the Election Code definitions to clarify that digital signatures are permitted on nominating, candidate, and referendum petitions, subject to rules established by the State Board of Elections.
