HB5027 Summary

• Extends the repeal date of the Naprapathic Practice Act from January 1, 2023 to January 1, 2028.

• Changes the minimum age requirement for naprapath licensure from 18 to 21 years old and requires a 4-year college degree for licenses granted on or after January 1, 2028 (currently requires 2-year degree).

• Creates a Board of Naprapathy consisting of 7 members (4 licensed naprapaths, 1 chiropractic physician, 1 medical physician, and 1 public member) to serve in an advisory capacity to the Secretary.

• Redefines naprapathic practice to include diagnosis and treatment (rather than evaluation) of connective tissue disorders and removes requirements for physician referrals or documented diagnoses.

• Updates disciplinary procedures to require the Board to review hearing officer reports and present findings and recommendations to the Secretary of Financial and Professional Regulation.
