IL HB5045

Establishes programs allowing retiring law enforcement officers in good standing to purchase their service badges and/or service firearms from their respective agencies.

Applies to investigators with the Department of Revenue, Sheriff's Department employees, Illinois Gaming Board investigators, Department of Corrections security employees and parole agents, and probation officers.

Requires that retiring officers have a currently valid Firearm Owner's Identification Card to purchase service firearms.

Mandates that firearm purchase price be set at replacement value rather than fair market value.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
