Reduces probationary period for teachers hired on or after PERA implementation date from 4 years to 3 consecutive school terms if they receive "Proficient" ratings in the second and third terms.

Allows teachers to achieve tenure in 2 consecutive school terms if they receive 2 "Excellent" overall annual evaluations.

Permits teachers with prior tenure in another Illinois district to achieve tenure in 2 terms if they receive 2 "Excellent" evaluations and had at least "Proficient" ratings in their most recent evaluations from their previous district.

Applies only to school districts with fewer than 500,000 inhabitants and contains procedures for transferring evaluation records between districts.

Takes effect July 1, 2023.
