Requires every public elementary school and high school in Illinois to include a unit of instruction on Italian American history beginning with the 2022-2023 school year.

Instruction must cover Italian American history in the State and Midwest, contributions to civil rights from the 19th century forward, and achievements by Italian Americans in government, arts, humanities, sciences, and economic/cultural/social/political development.

Study of this material shall constitute student affirmation of commitment to respect the dignity of all races and peoples and to reject discrimination.

State Superintendent of Education may prepare and make available instructional materials and guidelines to school boards, but each school board determines the minimum instructional time required to satisfy the unit requirement.

Regional superintendents shall monitor school district compliance with the curricular requirements during annual compliance visits, and schools may fulfill requirements through online programs or courses.
