IL HB5298

Expands voting eligibility for regional superintendent elections to include qualified electors in elementary, high school, and unit school districts (previously only unit school districts) that span multiple educational service regions.

Allows electors residing in such districts but outside their regional superintendent's service region to vote in elections for the superintendent who has supervision and control over their school district.

Removes the restriction that prevented these electors from also voting in elections for the regional superintendent of the service region where they reside.

Requires regional superintendents to certify affected school districts and counties to the State Board of Elections at least 100 days before general primary elections for proper voter registration coordination.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
