HB5307 Summary

• Department of Corrections and Department of Juvenile Justice must provide identifying information to the Secretary of State for persons to be discharged within 45 days of submitting the mittimus.

• Secretary of State shall issue a standard Illinois Identification Card to committed persons before their discharge date at no cost to the person or the departments.

• Upon discharge, the Department of Corrections must furnish the released person with the standard Illinois Identification Card.

• Removes the previous tiered system that allowed for limited-term identification cards valid for 90 days, replacing it with immediate issuance of standard cards.
