• Amends the State Employees Group Insurance Act of 1971 to modify eligibility requirements for survivors of deceased employees to receive group insurance benefits.

• Exempts survivors from minimum vesting requirements if the deceased employee was a member of SERS, SURS, or TRS and died as a result of homicide during the course of employment.

• Applies this exemption retroactively to January 13, 2012 (the effective date of Public Act 97-668).

• Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
