Extends the period for annuitants to work additional days as teachers from June 30, 2022 to June 30, 2023 without losing retirement status under the Downstate Teacher Article of the Illinois Pension Code.

Allows an additional 20 paid days or 100 paid hours of employment to be added during the July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2023 period to help address the substitute teacher shortage.

Removes language referencing the substitute teacher shortage being exacerbated by the ongoing global pandemic.

Returns employment limits to 100 paid days or 500 paid hours per school year beginning July 1, 2023.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
