IL HB5774

Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to add payment of municipal pension obligations for employees in public safety as an allowable use of net proceeds from automated speed enforcement system civil penalties.

Net proceeds (after deducting all non-personnel and personnel costs) must be expended or obligated by municipalities for public safety initiatives, pedestrian/traffic safety improvements, infrastructure construction and maintenance, after school programs, and municipal pension obligations for public safety employees.

Applies only to municipalities with a population of 1,000,000 or more inhabitants.

Effective immediately upon becoming law.
