IL HB5828

Amends the Recyclable Metal Purchase Registration Law to increase penalties for failing to record catalytic converter purchases.

Makes knowingly failing to record the purchase of 100 or more catalytic converters a Class 4 felony offense.

Maintains existing penalties of Class A misdemeanor for first offense and Class 4 felony for second or subsequent offense for other violations of the Act.

Treats each day of non-compliance as a separate offense.

Subjects metal obtained in violation of the Act to immediate forfeiture.
