Lt. Col. Stein was born July 8, 1963 in Des Moines, Iowa and married Barbara Nelson on July 9, 1983 in Macomb

Lt. Col. Stein served in the United States Army and Air Force, flying 3,901 hours and volunteering for a rescue mission in Afghanistan where he was killed on March 23, 2003

Lt. Col. Stein received multiple military honors including a Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Aerial Achievement Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and Army Achievement Medal

Requests that the Illinois Department of Transportation erect plaques or signs at suitable locations to designate the memorial highway and present copies of the resolution to the Secretary of Transportation and Lt. Col. Stein's family
