Honors Special Agent Pete Earl Lackey of Winchester, who was killed in the line of duty in 1978 while en route to testify at a drug trial in Springfield

Lackey was attacked by the drug trial defendant who rammed his car, then jumped through the passenger window with a hunting knife; the attacker was later acquitted but admitted to the crime in a 1981 interview

Lackey had served two years with the Illinois Bureau of Investigation and previously worked as a physical education teacher and coach at Winchester High School, and was survived by his wife and two children

Requests the Illinois Department of Transportation to erect plaques or signs at suitable locations marking the memorial highway designation
