HR0010 - Managing Robocalls & Spoofing

• House Resolution urging consumers to educate themselves on available resources and take protective actions against unwanted robocalls and number spoofing.

• Directs consumers to register phone numbers on the National Do Not Call Registry at https://www.donotcall.gov and file complaints with the FCC at the provided link.

• Recommends consumer protection practices including: not answering unknown numbers, refusing to provide personal information, verifying caller legitimacy by calling back independently, and setting voicemail passwords.

• Urges the Federal Communications Commission, Federal Trade Commission, U.S. Telecom Association, and telecommunications industry to continue monitoring and enforcing measures to reduce unwanted calls.

• Requires distribution of resolution copies to Will County and Cook County Executives, Illinois state officials, and all members of the Illinois Congressional Delegation.
