Urges the General Assembly to rename the East St. Louis Higher Education Center to the Wyvetter H. Younge Higher Education Center in honor of the late representative.

Rep. Wyvetter H. Younge served as one of the longest-serving members of the Illinois House of Representatives, first elected in 1975, with urban renewal as a top priority.

Rep. Younge earned a law degree from St. Louis University School of Law in 1953 and a second law degree from Washington University School of Law in 1972.

Sponsored legislation focused on substance abuse treatment, services for the homeless, and economic development in St. Clair County.

The East St. Louis Higher Education Center has offered educational courses and programs through collaborative partners including community colleges and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville since 1999.
