Notes that approximately one in two women and one in five men experience sexual violence other than rape throughout their lifetime.

Recognizes the physical and emotional effects of sexual assault on survivors, including post-traumatic stress disorder, substance abuse, depression, homelessness, and suicide.

Supports state, national, and global efforts to raise awareness about sexual assault, including its causes, effects, and prevention methods.
