Declares February 28, 2022 as Rare Disease Day in the State of Illinois.

Recognizes that nearly 7,000 rare diseases affect fewer than 200,000 Americans each, but collectively affect nearly 30 million Americans, with 50 percent being children.

Acknowledges that millions of Americans with rare diseases lack approved treatments and that affected individuals face diagnosis delays, difficulty finding medical experts, and limited access to treatments or support services.

Notes that Illinois hosts many leading academic institutions, biotech companies, and pharmaceutical companies conducting rare disease research and treatment development.

Directs that copies of the resolution be presented to iBIO, Inc., the Illinois Rare Disease Commission Chairperson, and the Department of Public Health to support awareness and continued work on rare disease research and funding.
